Again!
My husband woke me up at 5 this morning complaining of dizziness and wanting to go to the hospital. I had heard him get up at 4. This time, I threw on some clothes as fast as I could and we left, no questions asked.
The ride over didn't help this time. He practically ran into emerg. He was already in triage by the time I got the car parked. We only had to wait a bit until a bed was free. The fact that he is wearing a heart monitor might have helped. They took more blood but no oxygen was given this time. We had to wait about and hour and a half for the doctor. He told us that the first blood test was too soon for heart damage to show, and we had to wait until 10:30 for a second. I made some phone calls, got a paper and we settled in for the wait. More blood was taken promptly at 10:30. Sometime before this, another chest xray was done. The test results were supposed to ready in an hour, but we waited and waited and waited. They gave us a box lunch.
Finally, the doctor came back at 12:30. He told my husband that his xray showed emphysema but all the other tests were normal. There was nothing else he could do to improve on the care my husband is already under so he let us go home. My husband has a physical with our GP this week and has to have another stress test because the cardiologist didn't like the last three minutes of the one he did.
