We service what we sell

Called Sears because my four year old compact portable Kenmore washer stopped draining. They said they wouldn't have anyone in the area for another week, and there was $85 service charge. I booked the appointment but tried to find someone local expecting to cancel with Sears. I was little stressed out because my son does a load of work clothes almost every night. The first guy kept asking me to text the model number (I don't have a cell phone) and never showed up. The second guy, a mature gentleman, came as promised but couldn't fix the problem. He didn't charge me though. I decided to wait for Sears. Their repair guy finally arrived after several phone calls. He was just a kid but he reminded me of my dad who had a gift with his hands. The kid had his own jury-rigged tester which confirmed that the pump was pooched. Unfortunately, the part Sears had provided wasn't the right one. He said he would get back to me in a couple of days with a price. When he finally got back to me (after a call to Sears), the part wouldn't be available for another week. This time, he was true to his word and called back a week later, but the part was $40 more. He arrived and had it installed in about 10 minutes. So far so good. The one good thing about this is that we learned where the lint trap is (in the shaft). We hadn't cleaned it in all the time we had had the washer which probably contributed to the problem.
