Family cottage weekend 2021

I went up with my daughter, her partner and my grandkids. Started out by going through Schomberg to drop off beer bottles  and pick up some sweetener for my coffee, but Hwy 9 was backed up so I did a quick U turn. The rest of the trip was uneventful. I picked up a fresh stuffed crust pizza at Huntsville Lil Caesar's which was amazing (the kids had it for lunch the next day). I had to call my sister because I couldn't get the water working thanks to some new valves that were added to the system. I got my evening walk in even though it was spitting. I saw a young women walking with two older kids and a younger one and a dog. I started to call out but then realized  my daughter no longer had a dog. The power went out later that evening for a few hours. I had warned my daughter that this might happen since they were calling for rain all weekend. The kids were put to bed, and we stayed up reading for a bit thanks to a battery operated light bulb my sisters invested in. The power came back earlier than expected.

The next morning, the phone wasn't working even though it had been working the night before when I called Hydro One to report the outage (I had trouble getting the phone to work, but it worked OK for my daughter). The kids learned you could use the extensions like an intercom when there wasn't any dial tone. I brought up muffins for cottage breakfast; 6 S'mores, a tray of 9 large muffins (blueberry, chocolate chunk, and banana chocolate chunk) and a tub of small lemon poppyseed. My daughter commented on the quantity, but only two of the large muffins made it home. I got a morning walk in. After lunch, we went to the Dwight butcher to get steaks for supper. They were expensive, but worth it. My daughter did an amazing job cooking them on the stove (too wet to barbeque). I taught my daughter how to do sudoku after supper.

It was a very wet weekend. The kids fished off the dock when it wasn't raining and played  together inside when it was. They unplugged for the weekend. Sunday morning, my daughter spotted a turkey strolling along the beachfront. The rain had stopped so I got another walk in. Then it was pack-up time.
