It never rains but it snows

It's been snowing all day in TO. I was thinking of leaving early to beat it home.

I started doing a Message Deployment deployment in a new environment, and it tanked. I redid the whole setup over again at least twice (new queue manager, new broker) and it still tanked. What should have taken a couple of hours ate up the whole day. I opened up a PMR with IBM and left about an hour later than I had expected.

The city roads were terrible and extremely slow. Ditto for the 401, but the 404 wasn't bad. The 407 was good until I took the wrong exit in the snow. I got off at Jane and got right back on again. I should have stayed off and gone up Jane to Hwy 7. It was a long and slow trip to the next exit. I had to double back to the 400 which wasn't bad.

I get off the 400 at my exit. There isn't as much snow as in the city but it's sticking. I go over an overpass, and the light for the exit on the other side turns yellow. I apply my brakes a bit hard and spin out (ABS is on the fritz). Luckily, I get stopped sidewise in the centre turn lane without hitting anyone or anything. I straighten out the car and keep on going. The guy behind me gavea a me a wide berth after that. I didn't even get the shakes like I usually do when I do something stupid driving. I got home in less than three hours which was better than I expected.

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

I've dug out my car three times in the last twenty four hours.

When I booked yesterday afternoon off so I could make bread for a church do, I warned my boss that I would work from home if the weather was bad. It was, so I did. I think it was worse in the city though.

I left for church just before 5 p.m. after removing at least 6 inches of snow off my car. The main road was just wet. We were having a Meager Meal for Ash Wednesday of soup, bread, apple sauce and oatmeal cookies, all homemade. Hardly meager! It started snowing again just after I got to church. It snowed like a banshee while we were inside. I came out to find more than 6 inches of snow on my car. I made it home by crawling along at 40 klics. Any faster and the Malibu started sliding (I only have snows on the drive wheels). On the way home, I hear that another 15 to 20 centimeters is expected. Enough already!

This morning, I walked down to my car to find at least 8 inches of snow on my car. It took at least 15 minutes to get it cleared off properly. The drive to work was real slow, two hours door-to-door. In some places in the city, the curb lane was extremely narrow and almost impassible.
