Sad news
In the latest CLA pensioner newsletter, it listed all the employees who had passed away since the company folded. One of them was a supervisor in the New Business conversion team that I was on when I first started. He was married at the time but we were very sympatico. I watched the men play fastball, and he was a member of the CLA team. One time, we went to Chicago on a course. There was the sound of a woman screaming reverberating through the hotel core. He called to see if I was OK. He also told the guys that the busboy never came out of my room when I ordered room service. We also played company slo-pitch and would end up at Duffy's bar on Bloor Street. I shared a flat with my sister on Indian Grove. One night, he gave me a ride home on his motorcycle. It was one of the thrill rides of my life.
