The kid might be alright

My son has been off work for two weeks. He got sick the day before Christmas Eve. After being off work for a week, he went to a walk-in clinic because our GP's office was closed for the holidays. The clinic quack told him there was a stomach flu going around and to come back if he wasn't better in ten days.

Another weekend went by with no improvement, so he tried to get in to see the family doctor. There was a three day wait with the backlog from the holidays. Being the nosy mom, I went with him today. Our GP said it is gastroenteritis, might be stress related, and gave my son some pills. This is his usual response to almost all problems. I was worried that my son's IBS had been complicated by the flu or maybe food poisoning. The doctor said that people with IBS are more susceptible to gastroenteritis.

The pills are supposed to work quite quickly. I'm hoping that he will be able to attend his grandmother's 85th birthday/Ukrainian Christmas party this weekend. He missed Christmas dinner at his sister because he couldn't travel.
