Feedback from my teammates
The HP interviewer asked me what my teammates would say about me so I decided to ask them. Our outplacement methodology says you should identify your unique selling points, strengths and capabilities. Their comments were a real morale booster just when I needed it.
Here's what they had to say:
"1. Attention to detail
2. Process oriented
3. Team player"
"I'd say very strong technically, able to learn new technologies, able to drive issues to resolution, and tenacious."
"Strengths:
* broad, multi-platform, multi-discipline technical knowledge
* responsible, takes ownership of duties
* business mindset, looks to rationalize and understand business value of work to be performed
* business ethic, always provides employer with value for remuneration
* team player, likes to work on a close-knit team
* process and procedure knowledge and adherance"
"Strengths: organized, complete work on time, focus on the tasks that are important. Able to determine priorities for work. Know technology. Will speak up and question it something not understood or incorrect. Asks for and is willing to accept feedback to improve performance and other skills. As a team mate, would always look out for what was best for the team.
Capabilities: You know the technical side well of the products supported, WebSphere, MQ, plus have a good understanding of operating systems, networks, web infrastructure. Plus has strengths in understanding how an organization works, how groups work together,especially when it comes to dealing with external business partners, like IBM. Always on the lookout for what was best for the company.
Weakness: Sometimes can be a bit abrupt, which people tend to take the wrong way, but in fact you just want to focus on getting the work done following the proper procedures or find the correct person to do the job."
"As for that HP HR jazz, I really don't know what I would say in your place.If they need my opininon, give them my phone number. It's kind of a harsh reality that your abilities are assessed and selected by some HR kid who asks stupid questions to justify his or her own job. It really comes down to what you know (which they have no abilities whatsoever to assess), what kind of personality you are (it takes a long time to find that out) and how you'll get along with people you will work with (99% of times they're not able to predict that either). The only weakness is that it's difficult to prove that your experience can outweight the raw power of young spongebrains you compete with."
Everyone sees something different.
